Why are we asking this?
Some health plans require proof of good health to be approved for coverage. These types of plans often provide coverage with exclusions for treatment for pre existing conditions.Some plans do not ask any medical questions and offer guaranteed acceptance. Some plans do not require medical evidence if you were recently covered by an employer sponsored group benefit plan.

Owners & operators of incorporated businesses may be eligible for a Private Health Spending Account (HSA) enabling you to pay plan premiums and other eligible health care & dental expenses from corporate pre tax income vs with personal after tax income.

Health professionals play a critical role in improving access to quality health care. They provide essential services that promote healthy lifestyle, prevent diseases and deliver health care services based on the primary health care approach.

2 - Eye Exams, Glasses, Contact Lenses & Corrective Laser Surgery

Why are we asking this?
An outdated eyeglass prescription can cause unnecessary stress on your eyes, head aches, squinting and even neck aches. Less than precise vision can also present serious safety issues while driving or operating equipment. Eye exams can detect early signs of diabetes and cancer.

Medical supplies

1 - Diabetic supplies and equipment

Why are we asking this?
Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects all ages. If this is not controlled, diabetes results in high blood sugar levels which can lead to serious conditions such as vision loss, cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, amputation etc. Some of the supplies needed for diabetic care are syringes, needles, lancets and testing strips.

2 - Hearing Aids

Why are we asking this?
54% of Canadians have had some type of hearing loss in the high frequency range. Hearing aids may have to be replaced anywhere from 3 to 7 years and can cost in excess of $1500.

3 - CPAP Machines

Why are we asking this?
CPAP machines treat sleep apnea by providing a stream of oxygenated air while you sleep helping to prevent pauses & interruptions in your breathing. Symptoms include snoring, morning headaches, insomnia, hypersomnia and irritability Starting costs are usually in excess of $500 and as much as $2000

4 - Orthotics

Why are we asking this?
Shoe devices that are molded pieces of material to insert into your shoe to keep your foot in a neutral position. These may help with fallen arches, long days of standing on the job, diabetes to name a few issues.

5 - Other durable equipment & medical services

Why are we asking this?
When sent home from the hospital with an illness or injury you may need help with recovery. These may include such equipment as wheelchairs, crutches, ramps, hospital beds, etc.

6 - Private/ Semi-Private Hospital Room

Why are we asking this?
Some patients may prefer to have more privacy while recovering in the hospital. Some plans may offer hospital cash built into this benefit if access to a private or semi private room is not available.

Emergency services

1 - Dental Accident

Why are we asking this?
Accidental trauma to your teeth requires immediate attention and often emergency surgery. Resulting costs can be in the tens of thousands requiring financing in the absence of adequate coverage or emergency funds in place.

2 - Ambulance Land & Air

Why are we asking this?
This is a common misconception that Provincial health care will cover. This cost would actually come out of your own pocket. Ambulance land transfer is approximately close to $400 and air may start around $5000 and up.

3 - Home Nursing

As hospitals discharge patients early this provides registered or licensing nurse for your home care.

Dental

1 - Basic dental (preventative & cleaning recalls, minor restorative)

Why are we asking this?
Regular dental checks will prevent issues before they become a problem, such as cavities, tooth decay & gum disease. Dentists will regularly check for symptoms of oral cancer as well. A dental plan for you and your family will help budget and reduce large unexpected bills for this important expense.

2 - Restorative (endodontics & periodontics)

Why are we asking this?
This includes advanced dental work such as root canal therapy, dental surgery, treatment of gums, bone and connective tissue.

3 - Major Dental - crowns/bridges/dentures/implants, etc

Why are we asking this?
Covers costly restorative dentistry to replace missing teeth and empty spaces.

4 - Orthodontic

Why are we asking this?
Helps to budget & offset large orthodontic bills for you or your family. Most suitable for a minimum of 2 or more family members requiring orthodontic treatments. (HSA options are available and more preferable for business owners)
